Next-generation software company Red Lambda, Inc. develops network security solutions such as its cGRID::Security, the groundbreaking technology that mitigates both network disturbances and illegal downloading.
Inventors Robert Bird and Will Saxon developed the technology while working at the University of Florida Department of Housing, as part of an effort to control illegal downloading in the university's $4 million residence hall network that served 12,000 users.
The Office of Technology Licensing presented their invention to Greg Marchwinski, a distinguished executive manager with over 22 years of experience in information, storage, and networking technologies at firms such as Sun, Sanrise, and AT&T. Marchwinksi is now the company's CEO.
Since its founding in 2005, Red Lambda has netted $75,000 in public funding and almost $100,000 from an SBIR Phase I award from the National Science Foundation.
