Data Use Agreements

A Data Use Agreement (DUA) or Data Transmission and Use Agreement (DTUA) is a contractual document used for the sharing of research data from a provider institution to a recipient institution for use in a specific research project to be conducted at the recipient institution.

DUAs/DTUAs are appropriate for the transferring (including receiving) of Human Subject data that includes at least one of the 18 HIPAA identifiers and no other agreement governs the transfer and use:
