Micro-Planes
UF aerospace engineering researchers are pushing the envelope to
develop
and test miniature planes, known as micro air vehicles, that can fit in
the palm of your hand.
Anti-Tobacco Road
UF professionals have been working for years to reduce tobacco use,
particularly among children. Florida's historic $11.3 billion legal settlement
with the tobacco industry may provide new resources to continue their efforts.
Battling Breast Cancer
Beyond microscopes and mortality charts, UF scientists are improving
the outlook for many breast cancer patients. Promising technologies for
breast cancer detection and treatment are under investigation at the UF
Health Science Center's campuses in Gainesville and Jacksonville.
Polishing the Pearl
UF and Makerere University in Uganda are separated by 8,000 miles of
ocean and rainforest and deep cultural and historical differences. But
a long history of cooperation has bridged those gaps to help promote democracy
and environmental conservation in Uganda.
Out of the Locker Room, Into the Laboratory
The research conducted through UF's Department of Exercise and Sport
Sciences is testament to a new emphasis on the science of exercise and
personal well-being.
