and the Pentagon, University of Florida researchers responded to
the national crisis by offering their expertise in such areas as
engineering, forensics, bioterror and money laundering.
PICTure
of Health
When health-care giant Proctor & Gamble needed a partner to
help it develop a new skin protection treatment, the University
of Florida was the obvious choice because of its scientific expertise
and history of successfully moving drugs from the laboratory to
the marketplace.
Finding
Zora
The University of Florida is one of four major repositories of archives
by and about celebrated Black author Zora Neale Hurston. Thousands
of pages of material -- including correspondence, original copies
of manuscripts, published articles, biographical and critical papers,
and photographs -- provide clues about the public and private life
of this notable writer and anthropologist.
Saving
Sharks
The International Shark Attack File based at UF offers a bully pulpit
for shark scientists to preach a message of tolerance and promote
the need to focus on developing workable shark fishing management
plans.
