eRA Commons Registration Form

eRA Commons is an online system for sharing and accessing federal grant information. Federal agencies that utilize eRA Commons include National Institutes of Health (NIH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRA), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

To log in to eRA Commons and access its features, you must have an eRA Commons account with an assigned user roles. The Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP) will create an account upon receipt of the registration information below.

Available user roles in eRA Commons: https://www.era.nih.gov/erahelp/commons/Commons/roles/1_user_roles.htm

NIH uses the ASST (Assistant) role. Note that users with this role will initially have no access other than to update their own personal profile. Each Program Director/Principal Investigator (PD/PI) will have to delegate authority to edit RPPRs, view grants, maintain personal profile information, and perform xTrain functions to individual users with the ASST role.

Instructions for PD/PIs to delegate authorities in eRA Commons:  https://www.era.nih.gov/erahelp/commons/Commons/1_Admin/delegations/delegate_auth_own.htm

Note that user roles and eRA Commons access vary by federal agency. For NOAA grants, the PD/PI cannot delegate grant access, including the RPPR edit authority, to users with the ASST role.
